On Friday 18th March, ten 5-a-side teams from six UK TT Electronics locations met in Lutterworth to take part in a charity football tournament at Lutterworth Football Academy. The event was well attended, teams travelled from Bedlington, Sheffield, Weybridge and Wales. With 20 group games, 2 semi-finals and a competitive final between Bedlington and Abercynon we enjoyed 135 goals being scored and only 5 clean sheets. Kieran Robson of tournament winners ‘Well-win’ (Bedlington) and Carl Lunn of semi-finalists ‘Hardly Athletic’ (Sheffield) shared the golden boat with 14 goals each.
There was a great team spirit and effort both on and off the field in making this event happen; players, referee’s, organisers and supporters – all employees from across the group. Charity fundraising is nearing £1000 and will be matched by TT for our worthy charity partner MacMillan cancer support; and there’s still time to donate at www.justgiving.com/TTElectronicsFootie.
After the tournament, the teams attended the Lutterworth site for the trophy presentation and site tour. The event was not only a success because of the charity but also the camaraderie between sites and participants (including Apprentices to the EMB), which will support our BE TT strategy in working together fostering relationships between colleagues and sites, giving employees the opportunity to visit other facilities and feel part of the wider TT team.
Looking forward to 2017 tournament!
